OCG’S VALUES and CODE OF ETHICS
OCG's Code of Ethics is the backbone of the organization. This Code of Ethics is intended to ensure both the present & future success & welbeing of our wrestlers and families as well as to protect the reputation and integrity of the program as we try to benefit these hard-working young men & women. The OCG Code of Ethics is a framework and focused guide for the TEAM and CLUB in support of day-to-day decision-making related to wrestler conduct, actions and philosophy.
We will not take short-cuts in developing strong & compassionate young men and women. Though student-athletss may "quit" to take shorter term glory and other distractions, we will not veer from our path for there are far greater outcomes we seek.
All Wrestlers, Coaches, Assistants, Team Members, Club Families and Supporters and Friends of OCG need to understand our Code and Values. These are the guidelines we adhere to, and, if any member(s) feel that they do not want to or cannot adhere to this Code they are asked to communicate this choice as soon as possible so that they may adequately make arrangements to depart and create their own wrestling club or join another club of their own.
We will only start with high standards and go further upward and onwards from there!

Code and Guidelines
The concept of ‘cura personalis’, which translates to care of the whole person, meaning that care should be exercised for all aspects of one's being. It suggests conscious attention to the needs of ourselves and others, for example our teammates, who all help us to improve our own every day thoughts, actions and purpose. We must place a distinct respect for the unique circumstances and concerns of others, and appreciate the singular gifts and insights of our teammates, and they us. Communication is held at a premium as is honesty. Also, we must always communicate and respect our teammates as without them we can not train nor achieve our goals.
All while remembering that respect is a 2-way street and that between coaches, family and team all must dealt with using a high level of integrity and directness.
Further, and a clear example in today’s “softened world”, that our coaches are looking out for our best interests and arranging training with more skilled, advanced, and challenging partners to help OCG (competition) wrestlers advance and grow via sometimes humbling experiences. That this is how true & solid growth occurs and that wrestlers should not try to avoid these opportunities or rationalize other easier approaches to growth and stray from the path of courage, integrity and faith in oneself which leads to healthy confidence and psychological strength & dexterity.
In this vein, all members of OCG’s youth, teen and adult community are expected to exhibit this concern for others, as they also challenge themselves, most especially positively interacting with each other at trying events and practices. This creates enduring relationships, forged through trust, while athlete keep focus and enjoy passion in fulfilling the challenge of our SPORT and becoming better men and women from it.
Establishing clear and consistent focus for appropriate interaction IN PRACTICE and COMPETITION is a necessity.
Whenever an OCG athlete is competing all teammates need to cheer that person on. Never let that person feel alone.
It is also important to keep in mind, in any discussion of, that common sense should always dictate our actions. After a defeat, do not give someone advice unless or until you feel they are ready

No discussion of faults should be all-encompassing, these practice and competitions are all learning opportunities. Take video of your teammates when you can or are asked to do so by a coach. Use that video later as a learning tool.
As a TEAM, a FAMILY, we will always encourage other to err on the side of challenging themselves with boldness and bravery, to use defeat merely as a way of learning but a chance to be better next time.

In order to carry out the mission of OCG while at the same time ensuring appropriate support or athletes, teammates, students, the following are prohibited behaviors for all:
a) Lying or otherwise misleading (by omitting info) family, coaches, teammates, or club members
b) Harassment of coaches, teammates, or club members
c) Yawning, or using any disrespectful body language when coaches are speaking, rolling eyes, acting disengaged, talking over coaches while they are coaching
d) Not showing up to events like Scrimmages, Duals, Clinics, and Tourneys and leaving your team hanging not knowing your whereabouts
e) Inappropriate physical contact not pertaining to the sport
f) Using, possessing or being under the influence of illegal drugs when in the presence of, and/or while around teammates or club members
g) Using, possessing or being under the influence of drugs, such as marijuana or alcohol while at any OCG event
h) Routine use of profanity to degrade
